Zip Code Customer Type Electricity Usage Percentage of Electrical Usage to Cover
Average Monthly Electric Bill
The PG&E Solar Analysis takes a variety of user inputs and makes some assumptions to provide an estimate of the benefits of installing a solar system. An initial set of user inputs including ZIP code, customer type, and bill amount allow this tool to show calculations for an appropriate system for a customer with these characteristics. The available incentives and financial benefits shown in the tool will vary based on the specifics entered by the user.

The initial calculation assumes that the customer may choose to finance the solar system with a home equity loan over the 25-year life of the system at an interest rate of 8% and zero down. For the purposes of calculating the tax savings, it assumes a single individual with an Annual Gross Income (AGI) of $140,000. The solar customer’s electric rate is set to the default for the entered zip code with an annual estimated escalation of 3% per year. Additionally, ZIP code and sector type are used to predict the most likely rate a customer is on. All initially assumed inputs may be changed after the initial run of the calculation is performed.

The charts, graphs and analysis provided by this solar analysis tool are for illustrative purposes only and do not constitute a representation or recommendation by PG&E as to whether or not you should install solar.
